This time round more than 10 candidates have declared their
interest to run for the MP position, where only a few have toured the villages
to understand the challenge the people are going through.
Murang’a County Government administrator James Githii is also among the politicians showing interest in the parliamentary seat.
Also showing interest are County Government Water and Irrigation Chief Officer Antony Maina who has initiated water related programmes and Kiru MCA Moses Thuku.

in the implementing development projects, not to be caught off guard by the aspirants who
have met a sizable number in his strong holds.
Those

Each of the aspirants have mobilized handlers
in the villages who keep them informed with the happenings.
The
constituency was carved from the vast Kangema following the ugly incidents
reported before 1996 between the supporters of political heavy weights the late
Joseph Kamotho and the late John Michuki.
Njakwe Maina
served as the MP between 1997 and 2002, the late Kamotho took the mantle between 2003-2007. Wambugu run for two terms between 2008 to 2017.
