Race for Murang’a Gubernatorial has kicked off with IEBC clearing three candidates ahead of August 9 election.
Those listed in the race are Wairagu Wa Maii, former Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau and Irungu Nyakera.
Clearance of Senator Irungu Kang’ata is pending with investigations being carried out to establish if his running mate resigned from the University of Nairobi as the law provides.
Immediately the candidates were cleared they held their meetings with the supporters outlining their manifesto.
Nyakera pleaded with the youth to conduct themselves and avoid being misused by politicians.
The former MP said he has Murang’a at heart and is ready to provide solutions to problems facing the locals.
“Being on the ground for years I have listened to many people and we shall work hand in hand to get solutions to the challenges facing the county,” said Kamau.
Wairagu said he will work toward ensuring water will be accessible in all parts of the county, having been part of the increased distribution.
“After I was appointed PS in charge of water the coverage level was at 67percent and now at 80 percent. In the next five years the entire area will be covered,” said Wairagu.
Dr Moses Mwangi was cleared to run by the commission on Sunday.
Murang’a has seven constituencies namely, Mathioya, Kangema, Kiharu, Maragua, Gatanga and Kandara which are key places where the aspirants will get backing from voters.
