Hopes Run High as Highway Faces St. Joseph in Opening Clash at National School Games

KAKAMEGA, Kenya –
Excitement is building across the nation as the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) officially kicks off the 2025 National Championships in Kakamega.
All eyes will be on the Outer Field at Kakamega High School, where Highway Secondary School from the Nairobi region will lock horns with St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale in the much-anticipated opening football match.
Highway, the 2022 national runners-up, are hungry for redemption, while St. Joseph’s, known for their disciplined style of play, are equally determined to make a strong statement. This match sets the tone for what promises to be an electrifying tournament.
In 2024, St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale clinched the national title and will be defending their crown in this year’s contest. With giants from across the country gathering in Kakamega, the stakes have never been higher.
The championships feature a wide range of disciplines including:
Soccer
Volleyball
Basketball 3×3
Rugby 7s
Table Tennis
Lawn Tennis
Badminton
…with matches taking place at Kakamega High School and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) from 26th July to 2nd August 2025.
The opening ceremony will be held at Mumias Sports Complex on Tuesday, 29th July 2025, while the closing ceremony will conclude the championships in grand style.
