The parliamentarians are facilitating
their NG CDF committees to Kiharu to learn more about the effective management of
NG CDF projects.
A fourth delegation of leaders from nine constituencies visited
Kiharu under the patronage of MP Ndindi Nyoro to acquire knowledge in the management of concept.
The team learned that the development programme initiated the concept
reduces the cost of projects by about 40 percent.
Ndindi explained that the
model helped Kiharu to tile and renovate all 112 public primary schools,
boosting hygiene, and providing a conducive learning environment for learners.
“Unlike the usual tendering model, the labor-based model does
away with contractors, and locals are used to providing construction materials and
provide labor thus increasing contact with the voters,” said Ndindi.
Kiharu under the management of Ndindi provides free secondary
education in day schools where the
student pays Sh1,000 per term.
The day school day
education concept has seen increased
enrolment in Kiharu, thus achieving the
100 percent transition from primary to
secondary schools.
Present were MPs MP Wanjiku Muhia (Kipipiri) Maryanne Kitany(
Aldai) , and Reuben Kiborek( Mogotio) who hailed the masomo Bora programme and the
labor-based model of implementing projects.
Kiborek said under the mentorship of Ndindi, they will pick what
has worked from his programmes and implement it in their areas.
“No one has a monopoly of ideas. Even developed countries had to
benchmark to get to their levels”, he said.
