Kanja the new Inspector General of Police

President William Ruto has appointed Douglas Kanja as the Inspector General of the National Police Service.

Kanja is the sixth Inspector-General since the promulgation of the new Constitution in 2010.

In a gazette notice dated September 19, the head of state appointed Kanja to serve for four years.

“I William Ruto appoint Douglas Kanja Kirocho to be the Inspector General of the National Police Service for a term of 4 years,” the gazette notice read.

Kanja will now succeed Japhet Koome, who resigned on July 12, at the height of the anti-government protests.
