Two killed at Kenol ahead of Ruto visit

In what had been planned to be a peaceful church function in
Murang’a turned chaotic after two political groups fought.

A group arrived with four buses and dropped at Kenol before 8am
and started burning tyres before chaos erupted.

Between 9 am and 10am, the market centre remained a go Go Zone
as the police lobbied teargas canisters blocking gatherings.

At one point police hauled teargas canisters inside the church
five minutes before arrival of Deputy President William Ruto who was to preside
a fund raiser in aid of the AIPCA Cathedral project.

Chaos came to an end after the deputy president was escorted in
the church, as Murang’a regrouped  as the
youth dared them.

Ruto in his addressed regretted the incident describing it as
uncouth  saying it will not occur in
future.

 Murang’a MPs Ndindi Nyoro
and Alice Wahome accused their colleagues for sponsoring the chaos.

But Murang’a MP Sabina Chege blamed the two saying they were
behind the chaos, only to shift the blame.

Later Police Inspector General Hilary Mutityambai  said during the early morning smirkshes two
people were killed.

 He directed to senior
directors at DCI to probe the matter and bring the culprits to book.

“Stern action  will be
taken  against those engaging in planning
and executing unlawful acts,” said the inspector general.
