The coffee market fetched Sh 1.9 billion following the sale of 31,723 bags of coffee at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE), during the weekly auction.
Gachatha and Guama coffee farmers societies achieved the highest price of Sh 64, 500 per bag of grade AA for each of the 224 bags bought by Kenyacof, followed by Karindundu factory Sh 62, 307 for each of the 64 bags of grade AA.
In the brokers performance, the report outlined that Alliance Berries Limited led the pack with Sh 910. 5 million after the marketing of 14,044 bags of coffee that included 5,344 bags of grade AA.
Kirinyaga Slopes Sh 272.. 8 million for 4,119 bags, New KPCU Sh 231 million (3,738 bags), Kipkelion Sh 102. 2 million ( 1,747 bags), Kinya Sh 59.9 million ( 1,140 bags) among others.
The price of the commodity has been impressive after many of the producing countries suffered low production, according to AFA.
NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said the Impressive price for the commodity is expected to last for the next three months.
The brokers offered 10,743 bags of grade AA, 13,702 bags of grade AB and 2,505 bags of grade C, she observed.
“ The farmers are supposed to bring the coffee to the auction where they can access competitive prices,” said Ms Ndung’u.
