The community in Nanyuki has renewed its commitment to cooperate with the police in efforts to improve security and help the town attain a 24 hours status.

In an end of the year party, at Nanyuki police station,  the business persons led by Christopher Mithamo and Robert Kabanga said in the past one year the town had achieved maximum security, a move that attracted hundreds of investors and international tourists.

Mithamo said the historic ceremony the public said the police over the years kept a distance but last year with posting of new senior officers partnerships took centre stage.

“We appreciate OCS Michael Ndirangu for initiating a forum where the community and the police engage in a forum that has been missing over the years,” said Mithamo.

Kabanga pleaded with the community to support the initiative that would turn Nanyuki to a 24 hours economy owing to the improved security.

The bar operators, he said, were in support of the government strategies in eradicating the counterfeit products in the market.

“Nanayuki and its environs have been hosting hundreds of guests thus need for support to venture in a vibrant economy that will create job opportunities,” said Kabanga the patron of Laikipia Bar Owners Association.

Laikipia Police  Commander Zachary Kimani said the police has continued to interact with the public on crime prevention strategies,  through holding regular meetings.

Kimani said Nanyuki town youth have been given accorded a platform  to engage with the police in various avenues, in efforts to reduce friction.

“ For the security to prevail the community is duty bound  to volunteer crucial information to the police to facilitate investigations,” said Kimani.
