Rukuriri tea growers trained on financial literacy  and better crop husbandry

The tea sector marked a vibrant and momentous occasion as the growers underwent a training designed towards quality production.

Later, the over 1,000 farmers later held a colourful and successful graduation ceremony  at Mzee Njeru Kagondu’s home in Kanja Village, who was the lead farmer.

The graduands, drawn from the Rukuriri tea factory catchment, completed comprehensive training on key areas that  included financial management and literacy record keeping,agricultural diversification, and climate change mitigation.

Others areas of training were on food security, importance of soil conservation,sustainable agriculture quality control, among others

“This impactful training was made possible through the generous support of KTDA Foundation and the Mt. Kenya Sustainable Landscape and Livelihood Initiative (MSULLI),” said KTDA zone six board member Enos Njeru.

Njeru and other factory directors congratulate all the graduands for their dedication and successful completion of this important program.

The farmers’ commitment to learning and adopting smart agriculture practices is a significant step in driving not only your personal growth but also the collective success of our factory which continues to lead nationally in farmer returns.

“As we look to the future, we remain focused and committed to ongoing farmer empowerment through regular training in smart and sustainable agriculture. Together, we will continue to thrive and shine in the tea business,” added Njeru.

 Tea value chain expert Peter Karomo, congratulated the farmers  for undergoing intensive training saying it will assist them produce quality green leaf and proper management of their finances.

“Farmers from other factories  should borrow a leaf from Rukuriri to ensure there is effective farmers’ interaction and sharing of ideas,” said Karomo..
