In the meeting, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano hinted that the national government will partner with county governments to explore promotion of tourism and cultural activities that can increase revenue and attract tourists.

Miano said her Ministry will create partnership focusing at promoting counties as a tourism destination, a move that will lead to increased collection of revenue and improve the communities living standards.
Speaking at Rapid Camp during the First African Raft in Championship in Gikuu village, along the Sagana river, in Murang’a, the CS said the counties should promote tourism and culture as Murang’a will have gates connected with the Aberdare Forest.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, she said, asked for the gazette to allow Murang’a people to enjoy the Aberdare catchment, for the purpose of promoting eco tourism.
“ The gates will be established at Gatare, Mioro, Wanjerere ang Kangari to boost eco tourism and enhance community livelihood,” she said.
“ I am happy to note that the Murang’a Investment conference was held last month, and this week at Rapid Camp, there is a continental first Rafting competition, which is part of promoting tourism,” said Ms Miano.
Kang’ata said the Word Club Championship scheduled for next year will be hosted in Kenya, once the decision is ratified by the World Rafting Federation next month in Italy.
In the water sport, in the down river competition of 4.1 kilometres , Kenyans teams male and female won the gold medals, in the event that 10 countries participated in.

He pleaded for collaborative human wildlife conflict mitigation between the KWS and the Ministry to address myriad challenges caused by monkeys, and hippos and promote co-existence.
