Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro blasts Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi (Treasury) Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) and  Davis Chirchir( Transport)  for giving contradicting responses from EPRA regarding the adjustment of the fuel prices.

Already, Public Service Vehicles (PSV) operators are expected to increase fares following the price adjustments.

The lawmaker continued castigating the government for seeking undocumented loans likely to plunge the country into a debt crisis, similar to Zambia.

The Kiharu MP revealed that the majority of the undocumented loans  will mature after 2027, thus blasted the CSs explanation on the cause of the rise in cost of fuel as laughable.

.” “The claim by Mbadi that the cost of fuel in Kenya rose following the war  between Israel-Iran remains unrealist,” says Ndindi.

The MP spoke at  Gituto grounds in his  Kiharu backyard where the community deliberated on the best location for construction of a technical institute in Kahuro sub county.

Ndindi said it was unethical for the government to conceal information pertaining debts to the public, instead of registering it in the debt book.

He said it was a pity that policy makers could plunge Kenya into debt crises, similar to Zambia, a move he resisted.

On Wednesday, the Treasury Cabinet Secretary  defended the fuel levy securitisation, citing it was aimed at unlocking stalled infrastructure projects and settling pending payments to contractors.

Speaking at Gituto grounds during a TIVET stakeholders forum, the legislator slammed the CS’s on the grounds that they can not explain why the debt file remained hidden fearing exposing the outrageous borrowing pegging on the petroleum levy as a surety

Ndindi rubbished Mbadi claims that cost of fuel in Kenya was on the rise following the unrest between Israel-Iran, wondering why the commodity was cheaper in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania that the majority use Mombasa as the route from the refineries .

“ For every litre  of petrol there is a Sh7 levy charged, thus making Kenyans pay more than Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi,” said the Kiharu MP.

He said the CS failed to inform Kenyans that the government borrowed undocumented loan of Sh175 billion payable in seven years at an interest of Sh100 billion.

“The CSs’ in a rejoinder to their earlier statement were unable to explain who signed for the loan and the interest.Instead of responding to the issues they gave conflicting information that embarrassed them,” said Ndindi.

“ Another loan of Sh45 billion remains undocumented from the sports fund that will mature after 2027,” said Ndindi.
