The slain Boniface Mwangi Kariuki was buried in his Karirau village, Githunguri, Kangema, where  the politicians took the stage to discredit President William Ruto, alleging the police have  killed more than 100 youth in two years under mysterious circumstances.

Nairobi hawkers in their hundreds paid tribute to Boniface whom they eulogised as cooperative and caring person who worked with others in the streets.

In the  funeral service conducted by Bishop Benson Gathungu of JCM, the leaders led by Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Kalonzo Musyoka, Justin Muturi, Senators Joe Nyutu and Okiya Omtatah said it was painful as the country was burying the youth at an alarming rate.

The Murang’a Governor and his deputy Stephen Munania,  kicked off the debate when they decried the death of Boniface, whom they described as the most brutal.

ā€œ Never again as Murang’a people will remain silent as we watch our youth being killed. The government should be working at creating opportunities  for the youth,ā€ said Kang’ata.

He added that Murang’a remains the cradle  for the multi-party democracy as the late Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia fought  for what is being enjoyed today.

Kalonzo called on Kenyans to register as voters in large numbers to participate in the

forthcoming general election, after the IEBC commissioners are being vetted by the parliament.

ā€œ To ensure we have a government that will care for the interest of the people, and especially the youth, be ready with your vote,ā€ said Kalonzo.

He called on the parliament to redeem its face and address the concerns raised by the youth in their demonstrations..

Senator Joe Nyutu castigated Belgut MP Nelson Koech for supporting the order to kill the youth, saying the sentiments remain condemned.

ā€œ The DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua while in the US for a tour of meeting the Kenyans is against the orders targeting the Mt Kenya community,ā€ said Nyutu.

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara said President Ruto was playing tribal politics instead of uniting the country.

ā€œLet it be known that the majority of Kenyans are interested in unity and ready to follow Gachagua who has the passion  to work  and support the youtht,ā€ said Kihara.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya said the government was working to frustrate Kenyans.

ā€œ The election must be held in 2027 as per the guidance by the constitution, without any excuses,ā€ said Gakuya.

Former Attorney General Mr Muturi said Ruto’s continued violation of the constitution stems from the

Jamleck Kamau asked Kangata to terminate his  relationship with President William Ruto to save him from facing opposition in the forthcoming general election.

ā€œI am vying for the Murang’a Gubernational seat on DCP,  but once you declare ditching Ruto’s friendship I will stop vying and  instead support you for a second term,ā€ said the former Kigumo MP.

Youthful Irungu Nyakera aspiring  for Nairobi gubernatorial position said the government has failed the youth as it has blocked all the opportunities.

ā€œ For a responsible government, it should have created opportunitiesĀ  for the youth. The police should stopĀ  training their guns on the innocent youths.

Francis Gachanja the secretary to the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) said the young need the space and should not be killed.

ā€œ Boniface was a person who cooperated with other hawkers in Nairobi and it is painful  to bury such a young soul, but the police officer who pulled the trigger will remain haunted,ā€ said Gachanja.
