Coffee market earns Sh1.1 billion

The Nairobi coffee auction fetched a billion shilling after the auction of 21,846 bags of coffee.

The Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE)  reports indicate that coffee brokers presented 5,597 bags of grade AA and AB at the auction that attracted international buyers.

Gachuiro factory based in Nyeri county coffee brokered by Alliance Berries Limited achieved  the highest price Sh57,368 for Grade AA, Kieni  Sh55,900

Other factories that achieved best prices  for grade AA are Kiamabara  Sh56,203,Kagere  Sh56,332,Gichangi Estate  Sh 56,980,Kahuria Sh56,462.

NCE CEO L;isper Ndung’u said Kirinyaga Slopes delivered  8,319 bags that fetched  Sh402,163,822 followed by Alliance Berries Limited 5,493 bags that netted  Sh285,190,955.

“It is the appeal by the NCE management to the farmers to produce quality grades that have been attracting the market. The quality coffee fetches the best prices in the weekly market,” said Ms Ndung’u.

 She added that 21 coffee buyers participated in the market.

Other coffee brokers were Murang’a County Coffee 401 bags that earned Sh 17,969,974, New KPCU 2,124 bags earned  Sh 118, 172,541,New KPCU 2,124 bags for  Sh 118, 172,541, KCCE  1,432 that earned Sh74,999,378. 

Others were CEBBA auctioned 483 bags,Kipkelion 656 bags, Minnesota 2,351  bags.

In the dealers category, NCE report divulged that Ibero Kenya bought 11,840 bags, Louis Dreyfus4,834 bags, C Dorman  2,079 bags, Kenyacof 601 bags.

In the category Gracy Solutions  bought five bags.
