There is an uproar in Kiharu over the sentiments raised by a section of parliamentarians leveled against their MP Ndindi Nyoro.

The electorate said they are angered by claims by MPs MP Kimani Ichugw’a (Kikuyu) and his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohammed that Ndindi when he served as the budget and an appropriation committee alleged increased resources to his constituency.

The parliamentarians’ utterances angered the electorate led by Murathi Magochi and Kamau Mutuota who described the sentiments as misplaced.

His colleagues in parliament deserted him after he failed to join the team that impeached the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Former Kiharu MP Ngenye Kariuki alleged that  95 percent of leaders were serving their interests, thus need for a criteria to determine those to be elected.

“ Am disappointed that public in most parts of the country are not getting value  for their money,” said Ngenye

On Tuesday, Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi got a relief after the budget and appropriation committee members elected him to replace his Kiharu counterpart.

Mutuota said it was unfortunate that the majority lawmakers who expressed displeasure with Ndindi have been visiting Kiharu for benchmarking sessions with their constituency staff.

Mutuota  indicates that renovating a class room in Kiharu consumes between Sh150,000 and Sh200,000 in other constituencies takes more than Sh500,000.

“The MPs belittled the dignity of their status for alleging Kiharu was receiving more money, while the allocations to the constituencies are equal and remitted by the NG CDF Headquarters,” said Mutuota.

Murathi on his part Ndindi was not a political orphan as he has a solid base in Kiharu and has a bright future in the years to come.

He expressed interest with Ndindi based on his social media platforms  when others were updating the political meetings one has attended, he was only updating his electorate on the development programmes.

“ The MP is on record providing day secondary schools with free lunch and learning materials, which others have failed to effect despite being in Kiharu  for benchmarking,” said Murath

Kiharu NG CDF Chairman Peter Manyeki said Kiharu has been receiving the same amount as other constituencies with 2024/2025 allocated Sh188.4 million compared to Ndhiwa Sh197.3 million.

Last financial year, he said,  Kiharu got Sh184.1 million while Ndhiwa received Sh192.8 million.

In the year 2020/2021 they each got allocation Sh 137 million.

He said the amount has been allocated in development programmes in a structured way dubbed the labour contracting which has been successful.

Kiharu NG CDF is implementing 61 ongoing projects this year, added Manyeki..

“ The programmes initiated by the MP have continued to transform the villages, through renovations of the public schools, landscaping and providing the students in schools with food ration and affordable fees,” said Manyeki.

A hawker David Kinyanjui said the affordable education programmes proves Ndindi is a leader who interacts with his electorate.

“ Am a hawker in Murang’a town and Ndindi interests the locals more than other elected leaders,” said Kinyanjui.

A leader from Maragua constituency, Lawrence Munga said hard work and excellence have always made Ndindi look bad .

Munga said no leader  can match his charisma , brilliance , hard work , innovation and the respect he commands in the entire country

“  To decampaign a sitting MP in Muranga and countrywide, you use Ndindi achievements in developing and giving Kiharu a national outlook,” said Munga.

A female leader Jane Wambui  said it was unfair to parliamentary leadership to lay ground to attack Ndindi.

“ Back at home Ndindi is a person with the vision that can transform the country,” said Ms Wanjiku.
