Commission for University Education (CUE) has disclosed that at least 15 universities and colleges are operating illegally in Kenya.
They have been found to offer degree and postgraduate diploma programs without official authorisation from the commission.
The commission indicates that 35 public universities and 28 private universities are allowed to operate in the country.
They include Northwestern Christian University in Kakamega, Africa Talent University in Kisumu, The East African University, Nyeri based Bradegate International University, Baraton College in Kapsabet, and Kenya Anglican University in Embu,
others are the Eldoret Bible College, Africa Theological Seminary, Logos University in Kakamega, Harvest Land University, and World of Faith Bible College.
Northwestern Christian University in Kakamega, sparked an uproar after it awarded an honorary degree to Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi last year.
