Coffee market generates impressive payment of Sh1.5 billion

Coffee market earned Sh1,545,518,840 after an auction of 28,454 bags of coffee compared to last week’s  34,188 bags traded 

Twelve coffee brokers participated and delivered 28,454 bags of coffee in the auction. 

In the market, factories affiliated to Alliance Berries Limited, KCCE, Kirinyaga Slopes and New KPCU achieved impressive prices.

Kamoko factory affiliated to Othaya Cooperative, brokered by New KPCU achieved the higher price of  Sh59,572 after the sale of each of the 51 bags of  coffee.

Alliance Berries affiliated factories of Kathima Sh55,577, Ndima Sh 54,802, Gathaithi Sh54,543 achieved impressive prices..

In the brokers category, Alliance Berries sold 11,603 bags netted  Sh602,001,739 , CBBL 638 bags Sh33,275,709, KCCE 2,803 bags Sh161,197,831, Kirinyaga Slopes 5,322 bags Sh320,502,240, 

Minnesota 3,254bags Sh 169,950,380, Murang’a 493 bags Sh23,484,125, New KPCU 2,759 bags Sh157,823,835.

NCE CEO Lisper Ndung’u said in the auction  the brokers delivered  6,539 bags of Grade AA and 10,568 bags of Grade AB, which attracted buyers.

Ms Ndung’u added that 25 buyers led by Ibero Kenya bought 7,700 bags, followed by Louis Dreyfus 4,300 bags, Taylor Winch 3,800 bags, Sasini 3,400 bags among others.

“ NCE pleads with coffee farmers to invest in production of quality coffee that attracts the local and international buyers,” said the CEO.
