Government has released Sh21.8 billion to facilitate free learning in public institutions, with a huge chunk allocated to free day secondary education at Sh14.1 billion.
The allocation to learning institutions is affected by the Ministry of Education as schools open on Monday.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos in a circular to direct the remittance of the billions of shillings to the three levels of the public basic education institutions.
“ The school heads and principals are directed to ensure prudent use public resources entrusted to their care for the benefit of the learners, and desist from imposing unauthorised levies.
In the disbursement learners in Junior Secondary will share Sh6.1 billion and Free Primary Education Sh1.6 billion
