NCE proceeds on recess as it generated Sh625 million for the growers

Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) today generated Sh 625,452,069.22 after the sale of 19,031 bags of coffee.

 The payment realised during the weekly auction reflected an increase  from the previous where the farmers got Sh 343.3 million following the sale of 10,737 bags of the commodity.

 In the sale, marketing agents presented 9,156 bags of premiers grades of AA and AB that are in high demand that earned the growers Sh340.3 million.

Maganjo factory in Mukurwe ini achieved the highest price of Sh42,076 for its 39 bags of AA and New Mitamboni Mbee the second best after it achieved Sh38,678.50 per bag.

Gathaithi factory AA  achieved the second best  price of  Sh37,779.00 per bag of  coffee. 

The second best achieved price was  Kianderi Factory in Murang’a of Sh36,494.00 for each of its 59 bags AA  and third Nanga  got Sh35,209.00, Gatomboya factory AA Sh34,823.50 both marketed by the Alliance Berries Limited.

NCE CEO Ms Lisper Ndung’u  said the auction attracted 21 local and international buyers,  and seven marketing agents.

The Alliance Berries Limited, she said presented the majority of  9,456 bags of the commodity that fetched Sh300,865,520.75 in the market followed by New KPCU with 3,101 bags that fetched Sh101,779,939.61.

Ibero Kenya, she said, bought 5,395 bags of coffee  for Sh 173,385,768.53, followed by Kenyacof 3,216 bags at Sh98,888,725.57.

Ndung’u said an average price power bag of the commodity at the market fetched Sh26,214.00.

“Others dealers are C.Dorman 2,123 bags for Sh79,771,081.36, Louis Dreyfus2,478 bags at Sh76,469,153.04, Taylor Winch 1,732 bags for Sh67,034,896.27 and Sasini 1,328 bags for Sh39,831,366.36.
