Governor Irungu Kang’ata in the year ended June 30, had budgeted to collect own source revenue of Ksh 1,115,000,000 instead made a surplus of Sh1,610,604.14.

Kang’ata said the surplus followed dedication by the revenue collectors, and willingness of the residents to support the programmes.

“The County thanks Murang’a County residents who have dutifully paid their taxes; its staff whose collection efforts have borne these good results and the assembly whose planning enabled this budget,” said  the governor.

He said there is alot of hope that in the financial year 2024/2025 the same spirit will be maintained.

“ The collection has enabled continuation of county programmes including placing the casual workers in the contracts terms,  employment of additional ECDE teachers, additional health workers,” said the governor.

Other ambitious programmes initiated by the government are  Kang’ata Care, community projects, Inua Mkulima, Smart City and ECDE Uji.
