Movement of livestock has been restricted in Kahumbu ward in Kigumo, as the government battles with the spread of anthrax.
The county government also placed a mobile clinic in the locality to help the locals with anthrax after more than 200 residents suspected consumed uninspected meat.
In the past three days, the villagers have been in agony following bruises on their bodies related to the anthrax disease, after they bought meat from the home of Margaret Ngugi following the death of her cow.
Governor Irungu Kang’ata visited the villages and instituted measures to support the victims, as the livestock department ordered the arrest of the quack meat inspector who allowed the community to share the meat.
The governor said the mobile clinic crew will remain in the locality and provide the necessary support to the locals.
“ We are here to help our people with drugs to ensure all those with symptoms get assisted with treatment,” said the governor who was backed by Kahumbu MCA Chefman Njoroge.
There was a celebration in Githembe, Gatunduguru, Karabai, and Mugumo ini villages after Ms. Ngugi sold a kilogramme of meat to her neighbours at Sh400.
