Nyeri Water and Sanitation Company (Nawasco) has been ranked the top overall performing water service provider with 173 points.
In the ranking based on service delivery conducted by Water Service Regulatory Board ( Wasreb), Nakuru and Thika got the second and third positions with 161 and 157 points respectively.
In a report by regulator acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Julius Itunga, Nanyuki Water (Nawasco) achieved 157 points and was ranked in the category of the most improved service provider in a report released by Water Service Regulatory Board ( Wasreb).

The two, Nanyuki and Nyeri were ranked following impressive performance in the categories of in the large and very large ranking respectively. Murang’a Water (Muwasco) attained 154 points as compared to the previous 145 of the last year.
Nyeri scored highly in the non water revenue management and topped the Tana water region.
Nakuru was the best in central rift region and Kitui the best in Tunathi region
Tachasis water was recognized as the top performer in the small service provider category, while Kisumu water was ranked in the best customer care service and working in poor urban areas.
The regulator officer said in the duration the 88 water companies lost 205 million cubic metres of water while Nairobi requires 750 million cubic metres annually.
” Eighty eight water companies and four private firms were accessed based on the data. It reflected 98 percent compliance as two providers failed to submit their reports,’ said Itunga.
Poor performers in the sector are Nol Turesh, Gusii, Migori, Ol Kejuado among others.
