The conference on research and innovation enters the second day at MKU

 The eight International Interdisciplinary and Inter-Universities Consortium– Africa Research Conference (8IIIUC-A 2023) Agenda 2063 objectives entered the second day.

 The conference chairman Dr Henry Yatich said the participants underscored the importance of peace in promoting food security, entrenching and promoting problem-based innovations with industry.

 Yatich called upon the Kenyan Government to consider an increased financial allocation to research activities in the country through the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI).


“ On the first day, we learned that most countries in Europe and the Americas have allocated significant amounts of their GDPs to problem-based research that has led to innovative products, and processes that can address socio-economic and socio-political challenges of our times,” said Dr Yatich.

 The participants observed that collaboration among Higher Education Institutions in Africa and beyond was a key strategy for promoting cross-national and continental boundaries, so 8th International Interdisciplinary and Inter-Universities Consortium– Africa.  


Opening the conference, The National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI), Director General  Prof. Walter Oyawa emphasized the need for a framework to evaluate knowledge transfer practice as pivotal for adopting circular economy models.
