President William Ruto
has ordered the ranchers in Laikipia county to fence their land in efforts to
stop wildlife from invading nearby farms.
The President
speaking in Nanyuki during the interdenominational prayers said the ranchers will be required to fence off their land.
“ Human wildlife
conflict is a major concern that the ranchers will be required to
fence off their land to stop the invasion of animals in farms destroying food
crops,” said Ruto.
In the county
issue pertaining human wildlife conflict and banditry are the main
concerns that the leaders demand they be dealt with.
Present in the prayers
were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Governor Joshua Irungu, Senator John
Kinyuua, MPs Jane Kagiri, Mwangi Kiunjuri, Wachira Karani and Sarah Korere.
The President also said after deliberation with leaders several dams will be done in the county in efforts to address food security.
The dams are Kahurura, Pesi and Rumuruti.
