Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria assures Raila Odinga that he will embark on a door to door campaign in his backyard and deliver the 600,000 votes.
Iria spoke when he hosted the Azimio Presidential candidate at Mumbi Grounds in Murang’a town three days after he backed his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a meeting attended by a mammoth crowd, Iria said he opted to support Raila during a sitting after he called him encouraging him upon discrimination by the IEBC.
He said he will work with volunteers to reach the thousands in the villages to ensure Raila is elected.
“Raila is a leader as he approached me after IEBC brought my presidential ambition to an end without any explanation,” said Iria.
Others who accompanied Raila included his running mate Martha Karua, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, MPs Sabina Chege, Ruth Wangari Mwaniki among others.
He hit at the IEBC of habouring intention to block his way to the State House as there were rivals making merries and slaughtering goats to celebrate.
Raila in his speech said his ideologies and those of the outgoing governor were the same and if he wins the election they will work closely.
Earlier Raila addressed a meeting at the historic General Kago stadium while Karua addressed women leaders at Kimorori grounds at Kenol.
