Nyandarua to follow Murang’a style in free milk  to nursery schools

Nyandarua County Government has allocated Sh50 million annually to fast track distribution of free milk  to Nursery School pupils in the feeding programme.

The programme is designed to provide the milk  to the leaders to the over 23,000 pupils  studying in the Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).

 The feeding programme has been launched by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia at Ngai Ndeithia  nursery school.

The governor seeking  for a second term said the learners in public institutions  in the seven sub counties have been listed to get milk thrice in a week.

 “ We are discussing how the program could  be extended to privately owned nursery schools that account for another 19,000 children since they are part of Nyandarua county,” said the outgoing governor.

 In the county there are 496 public Early Childhood Development Education in the county.

 County Education Secretary Mr Ndungu Wangenye said they have partnered with New KCC and other milk producing firms operating in the locality to make the program effective.

 “The companies will supply all the milk in this county and make sure it is available when needed,” he said.
