Azimio La Umoja initiative leader Raila Odinga made a grand entry in Murang’a county where he drummed up support for his presidency campaign saying he had the best programmes that will benefit the country.
Unlike in the past, Raila was welcomed by local leaders led by former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, MPs Sabina Chege, Ngugi Nduati, Peter Kimari, Muturi Kigano, Wangari Mwaniki who hailed him as a development minded leader.
In his address at General Ihura stadium, Odinga said he had better plans for the country unlike the baseless Bottom Up approach he described as a system to continue exploiting the country instead of empowering the citizens.
“ In my hands the country will be in a good position as the loopholes used to steal public funds will be sealed,” said Odinga.
He added that he would work to transform the country through supporting the agriculture sector that feeds the country and ensure the health sector will be vibrant.
” Education sector will be working aimed at from Nursery to University the learners will get quality education ,” said the presidential candidate.
The meeting followed a forum with leaders which was held at Thika Greens Golf Course Hotel where issues pertaining to agriculture, health, water education among others were raised as the leaders sought for solutions.
MPs present were led by Majority leader Amos Kimunya, Kanini Kega, Maoka Maore among others.
Also Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign Board Ndiritu Muriithi also the Laikipia Governor and Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia attended.
Water and Irrigation Principal Secretary Joseph Wairagua wa Maai and the former Kandara MP Joshua Toro both eying for Murang’a governorship were also present.
Murang’a Deputy Governor Maina Kamau eying Kandara parliamentary seat and former Senator Kembi Gitura were present.
Murang’a leaders drummed up a campaign for Kenneth to be considered a running mate for Raila saying he has a track record and backing of the people.
Kenneth had served as Gatanga MP between 2002 and 2013 before he aspired to run for Presidency in 2013 and lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Deputy President William Ruto is set to hold a public rally in Murang’a town next Saturday.
