Entry of Mudavadi in coalition with UDA cause jittery
The Mountain Journal
With the coming of Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi
to support the deputy President William
Ruto for Presidency, allies in the Mountain have remained struck that his
running mate must be from the region.
In Nyeri county, Ruto
allies are demanding Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who has stood with him after
the fall out from the Jubilee Party saying he has all the qualifications to deputize him.
The supporters of Kandara
MP Alice Wahome are reading the same
script but say Gachagua despite being
fit for the slot cannot match her.
Wahome is a law of high
repute while Gachagua is a career administrator.
In a meeting youth
affiliated toi uda termed invitation of musalia in the negotiating table would
disenfranchise the mountain region that
has solidly supported ruto.
Led by Benard Gacheru the
youth who met in Karatina claimed Musalia entry in ruto camp copuld be after he
was promised a leadership slot.
” If this is true of a secret
plan we shall have to reconsider our stand
to Ruto, saying Gachagua should be named
the running mate and the UDA deputy party leader,” said Gacheru.
In Murang’a, supporters of Wahome said she stands high
chances of getting the running mate slots owing to her background in law.
James Kamande said Wahome is
rated highly in the UDA leadership structure thus stands a better chance than anybody
else.
Murang’a, he said, was
awaiting a pronouncement from Ruto on his
preferred running mate when the time comes.
“Wahome is a fighter who has supported Ruto all through
despite being undermined by the state agencies,” said Kamande.
