Usawa Kwa Wote Party leader Mwangi wa Iria has retaliated that he will get the overwhelming support from the mountain region, thus he should get ODM leader Raila Odinga as his running mate.
Iria said the mountain with more than 10 million votes should not negotiate with anybody in matters pertaining leadership as it has enough.
Speaking at Murang’a General Ihura stadium said Raila has backing of estimated three million votes from his Luo Nyanza back yard while the Deputy President William Ruto has less than two million votes from the Rift Valley block.
“ Am in charge of the mountain votes, 1992 we have produced presidential candidates the retired President Mwai Kibaki and the late Kenneth Matiba. This time round when others have developed a cold feet, let them know Iria going for the seat to save the community from being auction by leaders backing Raila and Ruto,” said the second term Governor.
Mt Kenya governors supporting Raila’s candidature are Lee Kinyanjui( Nakuru) Ndiritu Muriithi (Laikipia), James Nyoro( Kiambu) and Francis Kimemia( Nyandarua).
In the past four months, Raila and Ruto have been making in roads in the Mt Kenya region wooing voters, while Iria meet delegations from far and wide for consultations.
The candidates eying governorship, MPs and MCA slots visit seeking sponsoring through Usawa Kwa Wote Party.
Between August to date, the party has recruited more than 3 million votes.
