First term governors Ndiritu Muriithi, Francis Kimemia, Lee Kinyanjui and James Nyoro hosted ODM leader Raila Odinga in his first tour of Mt Kenya region.
The journey that started on Sunday in Nanyuki ended with a convoy along the Nanyuki- Nairobi with stopovers in Karatina, Kenol- Juja and Githurai where they addressed crowds outlining his vision for the region if elected into the office of the presidency.
The entry of Raila is one of the avenues used to weaken the popularity of Deputy President William Ruto who has been in the region for more than five years campaigning for the Presidency.
In Murang’a region, when he landed at Kenol market, the ODM leader was welcomed by MP Sabina Chege who said he was appreciated by the locals over his involvement in promoting local democracy and has been a close friend to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Before he kicked off the tour of the mountain, Raila held a closed door meeting with the governors who gave their demands that Raila is elected should be fulfilled.
