Major highway passing through Mathira Constituency remained inaccessible after marauding youth supporting MP Rigathi Gachagua lit bonfires.

The youth played a game of hide and seek with law enforcers drawn from police stations in the constituency as they protested the arrest of  their MP by DCI  early in the morning.

The youth blocked the Nyeri-Nairobi highway at various points disrupting transportation  activities.
The motorists were forced to suspend their movement as the police, the youth and some drunkards in running battles as they put off the bonfires.
John Njoroge said the youth got irritated after the law enforcers moved in the  Gachagua’s rural home after 5am.
” It is shameful  to arrest the MP in such a manner  instead they could have summoned him  to any police station,” said Njoroge.
Hundreds of motorists including public service vehicles  were forced to use the longer routes to reach their destinations to avoid the rowdy youth.
The MP will be arraigned in court on Monday on counts of abuse of office and money laundering , as he was relocated him to Gigiri Police Station from DCI headquarters.
