Despite challenges associated with Covid 19 pandemic among others, Laikipia County Government has been rated among those who have excelled in local revenue collection.
Under the management of Governor Nderitu Muriithi, in the year 2020/2021 the county collected Sh840,396,633 up from the Sh730,967,503 of 2019/2020.
This week, the county celebrated the improved local revenue collection after the administration declared its commitment to enhance strategies to raise more to sustain development programme.
In the year 2020/2021 the county finance department led by Bonface Ndai had targeted to raise the local revenue to Sh1 billion.
County Revenue Board was praised for its dedication to enhance revenue collection that has helped the county government manage to develop the development programmes.
The governor said the dedication by the team in charge of finance has assisted in the improved local revenue.
” We are working to ensure in the future the Laikipia County Government will strife more on implementation of the development programes for the interest of the local residents,” said the Governor.
In 2015/2016, the county raised 482,151,087 as the amount reduced to Sh468,924,816 in the year 2016/2017.
In 2017/2018, the county managed Sh608,463,783.
