Mt Kenya region
should be ready to produce a presidential candidate following strength of 10
million voters.
The region politicians should not be scared to bury their interest for the highest political
slot to pave way for others.
Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria said the democratic principles does not bar any from contesting for presidency next year.
Speaking in Gitui village during the burial of
Isabel Waruinu Kimani, Iria said following the democratic principle he will vie
for Presidency on Usawa kwa Wote party.
“ The votes
determine who will be presidency not the night meetings held in hotels. The
Mountain region has a bag containing
more than 10 million votes enough to send a leader from the region to State
House,” said the Governor who declared his interest last year.
He reminded the locals how the late Kenneth
Matiba and the retired President Mwai Kibaki
contest for the presidency and
got the regional support.
The second time
governor and a supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta said he
will pick a running mate from some of the presidential contestants.
“ I
have the ability to transform the
country to greater heights and appeal
from the people from the mountain region
to rally behind me,” said Iria.
In Murang’a there are more than 600,000 voters and majority will support him.
