High profile election in Rurii ward in Nyandarua
County witnessed two leading political parties in a contest with only hours left to conclude
their missions.
The
campaigns are between Jubilee’s Peter
Githinji and UDA’s Muraya Githaiga that attracted high profiled politicians
among them Governors Ndiritu Muriithi (
Laikipia) and Francis Kimemia (Nyandarua) and Water and Irrigation Cabinet
Secretary Ms Sicily Kariuki.
As
5,000 registered voters go to the poll, the campaigns attracted
parliamentarians Amos Kimunya, Maina Kamanda, Faith Gitau, Ndindi Nyoro,
Rigathi Gachagua who campaigned for their candidates in the past three days.
The by-election slated for Tuesday, the
locals have been assured of their security as the politicians allied to Githinji
highlighted the government development programmes in Nyandarua county.
MP Kimunya
of Kipipiri constituency the majority leader led the Jubilee party campaigns,
while Ms Gitau led the UDA brigade.
The by-election was occasioned by the death of MCA John Mburu early this year.
