A Community leader has donated 126 bags of rice for distribution
to 156 primary schools in Kiharu to prepare meals for KCPE candidates.
Karanja Mburu Wamatangi donated the bags of rice that were distributed
to the examination centers’ a week before the candidates sit for their national
examination.
During the distribution launch at Kiangage primary school, Njiraini Njoroge,
a parent said the gesture by Wamatangi will motivate the learners to do better
in their examinations.
Kiharu constituency has 5,308 candidates enrolled for the national
examination.
“Wamatangi went to Ndikwe primary school and since 2013 has been assisting
the schools in his Kiharu backyard donations aiming at producing the best
results,” said the parent.
Wamatangi on his part called on the leaders to lead by example
by supporting the local schools where the majority of the children are
enrolled.
“ There is a need for the community to come together for the interest
of our children. A lot of focus should be on the public schools where the
learners go hungry thus the need to share with them the little I have to ensure
they post better grades,” said Wamatangi.
Wamatangi, a director at Lapsset, called on the Ministry of Education
to set aside a kitty that will provide candidates with meals to ensure they are
not distracted.
“The rise of petroleum products will affect the distribution of rice
to the schools due to implications,” said Wamatangi
