Three Murang’a leaders drummed up support for
BBI saying it will increase resources at the county to accelerate development
programmes.
The
leaders Peter Kenneth, MPs Ngugi Nduati ( Gatanga) Peter Kimari( Mathioya) said the report means
good for the Mt Kenya region that had been neglected for a long time.
They castigated camp allied to Deputy President William
Ruto saying those in opposition are yet to divulge reasons behind their
action.
Speaking
at Kirwara and Kiria ini Catholic churches in Gatanga and Mathioya, they said
there was the need for the Mt Kenya region to support the report as
distribution of resources is on a one man one vote formulae.
“ I have gone through the report severally and I
can assure you that there will be resources to the counties, and the region
will be represented at the national level,” said Kenneth, a former Gatanga MP.
He also
hinted no clause blocks a candidate from Mt Kenya region from vying for the
Presidency.
“ If we produce the best there are no limitations
that Mt Kenya had earlier produced Presidents,” said Kenneth.
The MPs
said during President Uhuru Kenyatta leadership Murang’a has benefitted from
electric connectivity, tarmacking of roads, and many water projects.
Nduati said Gatanga constituency will rally
behind the BBI, as it means well for the region as the resources will be
increased from 15 percent to 35 percent.
Kimari on his part said electric connections in
three years have risen from 30 percent to 70 percent.
“ We have major roads in Mathioya under construction
and more expected as the BBI report will be implemented,” said Kimari.
Murang’a County Assembly will debate on the BBI on Tuesday, after leaders led by Governor Mwangi wa Iria and MPs took the public through the report.
