There is evidence of the cracked
leadership in the mountain following division as regional meeting set to start.
Already the leaders from the region are
divided between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, who embarked
on early campaigns.
The meeting set for tomorrow has caused the leaders
to speak in different tones, with those allied to Kenyatta are waiting for the
chance to make the deliberations.
Those allied to the deputy president have stated they
have nothing to do with Sagana State Lodge function as it will deal on matter related to Building
Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The 41 leaders have released a letter giving reasons why they will not be part of the meeting.
In Murang’a County those who will not proceed to the meeting are MPs Ndindi Nyoro( Kiharu), Alice Wahome( Kandara) and Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata.
In Murang’a County, Governor Mwangi wa Iria
emerged as the first leaders in the region to hold a meeting with MPs and MCAs,
to chart the way to endorse the BBI.
In a meeting held at Edgewood Hotel in
Gatanga, the governor and an official
from the BBI secretariat took the leaders through the report.
“ Murang’a county assembly is only a
day to deliberate and endorse the report, as the counties stand to gain with
increased resources from the national government,” said the governor.
Iria has declared to vie for Presidency and
has called for support from the local leaders.
“ I will be in the race for the
national seat and expect the residents in the mountain will back their own,”
said Iria the national party leader of Usawa kwa Wote party.
