Residents
in Mathira East have raised concerns over the poor state of Karatina-Kagochi
road, which is impassable.

The pot-holed roads are a shadow of its former
self with the locals explaining how Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has failed to
lobby to have the road recarpeted.

Peter Mwai blames the MP over failure to lobby
for the rehabilitation of the roads for years,
despite the locals complaining.

The locals say transport of goods along the
route is expensive with some preferring using the longer Karatina- Marwa-
Chaka- Gitunduti route.

The route has caused damage to many of the public service transport as
millions of shillings are spent in repairing the vehicles,” said Mwai.

Mwai told The Mountain Journal that the MP was
busy lobbying for projects in Mathira West leaving them in despair.

“The MP has abandoned
Magutu area due to political reasons, and the roads in Gathehu village are in
the worst state,” he said.
