Education: Private schools advertise for vacancies

Private schools are  set to reopen  as they are looking for learners months after institutions closed following the outbreak of Covid 19.

In  the major
towns in the country management of private schools have placed advertising
materials in strategic positions  scouting for learners  as the
opening draws near.

In Murang’a county,
Elite Schools  located in Murang’a and Maragua towns have placed
advertisements  for the learners.

 Elisha
Ndung’u who chair  the board of Elite Schools said, the institutions have
suffered following the negative impact of the pandemic, there is need for the
management to embark on search for learners.

Ndung’u  said his administration has adhered to the Covid 19 protocols as directed by Ministry of Health.

“It has been a
tough year as some of the  schools will not be able to open  due to
constrained resources. The few still running their institutions will dig
deeper to remain afloat  for the interest of learners,” said Ndung’u.

He added that the institutions have received application  from parents looking for vacancies  for their children

At the same
time,  public schools in the county are reportedly overwhelmed  with
applications of new entrants from private schools.

Hundreds of parents
are making the last minute inquiry if their children  will be
enrolled in public run primary schools, after they will not manage to
pay fees in private  schools.

 Simon
Mwaura  said in the past one week he has placed an application  for
enrollment  for his three children  he wishes to relocate from a
private school in Kigumo sub county.

“I have
decided to relocate my children  to a public run school after I was
relieved from duty after returns in my former company reduced,” said
Mwaura.

 Education
CS      Prof George Magoha  has ordered heads of public run schools to be under instructions
to admit all the learners looking  for positions.

” The chiefs
when the schools reopen will be on alert  to ensure the children
will be back to class. It is a government directive that all children
report to school  in January,” said the CS.
