Mathira parliamentary seat has attracted several politicians among them Waruru Gikandi.
The politicians are attracted to the slot held by MP Rigathi Gachagua who is perceived to be eying for the Nyeri Governorship position currently held by Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga.
Waruru a Nairobi business man has been on the ground marshalling support to take the seat to take Mathiras constituency a mile further.
Rigathi is a brother to the late Governor Ndiritu Gachagua who was the first in Nyeri county.
Another campaigning for the slot of Kiragu Karweru, an ally to Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria who has also declared interest for the political seat.
Peter Warutere from Kanjuri village said Waruru has vast interest in development of Mathira as he has been assisting to resolve some of the problems, passed on to him by the community.
” Rigathi has been playing politics and Mathira is known to produce leaders who are in support of the government. History reminds me the late Kuguru and Matu Wamae had been supporters of the government and the constituency remained focused,” said Warutere.
Lydia Gathigia said Mathira people should elect the best person with ability to steer the area in the somber manner.
” Lets ignore sideshows and remain focused as Mathira in the 1990’s was known to produce the best leaders. We also used to be referred to as Mathira ma Githoma which is opposite today,” said Ms Gathigia.
She added that Kiragu has the energy and given a chance can give others sleepless nights.
” The young man has what it takes to battle for the elective position.” he observed.
