 By TMJ Reporter in Mathioya

A leadership wrangle has emerged in the
ambitious Daughter of the Mountain forum, after a section, is opposed  to the installation of Kirinyaga Governor
Mumbi Waiguiru as the chief patron.

 The
3,000 members forum is divided after the majority of the members expressed concerns
over the installation of Waiguru without their consent

 The
wrangle in the four-month-old forum was laid bare during a women empowerment function
at Kiria ini Catholic Church grounds, Mathioya, Murang’a when Lydia Mathia was ejected
from the meeting.

 She was
ejected after she was discovered to had been among the members who allegedly
participated in the installation of Waiguru as the leader of the outfit.

Hell broke loose after Mathia was ordered out
of the meeting by a group led by Murang’a nominated MCA Ms Wambui Njoki.

 She
said there was no agreement on the installation of the Governor, a version
disputed by Mathia.

“ The Daughters of the Mountain came
together to support one another and not for political reasons,” she observed.

 As she
was driven out of the meeting the banners she had brought were pulled down.

This happened as the empowerment programme
took place where the young mothers were taken through life skill, social and
economic programmes by leaders Sabina Chege( Murang’a County MP  and former Nyeri County Pricillah Nyokabi.

Murang’a MP
Sabina Chege advised the members to get rid of small problems and remain focused.

“let the group
be focused to support the young instead
of being driven by interests,” said Chege.

Mathia on her
part accused the members of sycophancy, saying they were aware of the installation
of Waiguru as the patron.

“The objective
of the lobby group is to work  in
partnership  with young women to overcome
challenges they are facing following impact of Covid 19.” she said.

Governor
Waiguru, she said is wealthy of experience and vast with political knowledge
having gone through political storms.

“ As a patron
of the group  the members stand to
benefit through the mentorship programme, to ensure the success of the young members
who are the majority said Mathia.

Nyokabi said the mission of the group is to
visit all the corners of the region.

 She
explained that the purpose of the group is empowerment and educate them on understanding BBI.

“Our interest is to assist our sisters to
overcome the challenges they are going through due to Covid 19 pandemic,” said
former MP.

Waiguru
had accepted the installation, as the chief patron of the group.
