Murang’a County MCA picked for servant leadership by Mizani Africa

 

Kamote Waciama is among the four MCAs who made it back to the
Murang’a County Assembly for a second term,
 owing to his good relationship with electorate
in Wangu ward, Kiharu.

Mr Kamote served as a councillor for Kahuhia ward between 2002 and
2007 and maintained a sound relationship with the locals in his area and
outside.

In January 2017, while President Uhuru Kenyatta  was at Karuri market of Wangu ward , sensitising
voters  to register with IEBC, Kamote   requested 
for assistance in the  realization
of many development projects in the ward.

Among them included Maragi- Gatheru-Wanjengi Weithaga road, and the
proposed Wangu community irrigation project to irrigate the entire ward.

In an interview with Kamote, he described himself to had been trained
to be humble and respectful to all despite their status in the community.

“I appreciate the gesture made by the President as on the ground the
promises are being implemented among them, the Maragi- Gatheru-Weithega road
that the locals have named Kenneth Matiba road,” he said.

 The government and other
agencies, he said, should accomplish other projects like Wangu Irrigation for
the well-being of the people.

His day starts at 3 am when he settles for studies for a degree he
is pursuing at Pioneer International University which end at 6 am.

“Thereafter, he serves the people who may have visited him with
various needs, ranging from school fees, hospital bills among others,” said the
MCA.

He explained that he lobbied for several projects from Murang’a
county government, Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), which have assisted
towards improving infrastructure connectivity within the ward.

He has also lobbied from Ministry of Water and Irrigation Principal
Secretary Joseph Wairagu, and a tender to supply domestic water in the vast
ward.

A contractor is heading to the site to accomplish the supply of
water pipes.

A community bore hole is also set to be established at Koimbi
chiefs camp.

“The ward being agricultural area water is crucial to support
farming activities thus the need for a vibrant programme,” he said as his
remains the most accessible leader in the county.

Kamote eying for a third term at the county assembly is working to
establish a fund to assist educate the children from a humble background.

“Presently, there about 50 first-year university students whose
parents are unable to raise the fees. From my salary, I pay fee for 10 secondary
school students.

 As a leader this is my
responsibility to attend the needs of the community,” said Kamote.

In the assembly leadership, Kamote is the chairman of the
respected Governance, Labour, Justice and Legal Affairs  Committee.

He is also a member of the powerful House Business committee.

 In the Mizani polls,
Murang’a MCA Mrs Jecinta Ng’ang’a was rated second at 32.7 percent, Murarandia’
David Kiiru 32 percent.
