The government is committed
to provide schools with the necessary assistance to keep Covid 19 away when the school
reopens in January next year.
Education Cabinet Secretary
Prof George Magoha said the condition for all schools will adhere to Covid 19
protocols, through social distancing.
Speaking at Maragua Ridge
Secondary School, the CS said school calendar will be reviewed to ensure the
learners will not lose another academic year.
The CS was on an inspection
tour of Murang’a and Kirinyaga schools on prepared on re-opening of schools
through the delivery of desks and chairs to primary and secondary schools.
He was accompanied by
Central Region Director of Education Margaret Lesuuda and Murang’a county
director of education Ms Annie Kiilu where he said stakeholders should make
preparation for the reopening.
“The examination time table will be made public but it will not be
different from one issued earlier by Kenya National Examination Council,’ he
said.
On desks, to schools, he said the jua kali artisans who have
accomplished their assignment will be paid their dues without delay.
“ By Friday next week, my commitment
is that all the desks will be in the identified schools,” said the CS.
In the programme, 5,254 secondary and 5,136
primary schools to benefit from the desks to help keep the social distance.
