BBI blessing to MCAs over ward fund,

Ward development fund will liberate members of county assemblies
from being controlled by the executives.

In the Building Bridges Initiatives backed by President Uhuru
Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, ward fund has been enshrined in the
document.

The assembly members are seeking for the establishment of Assembly Service Commission to protect the manipulation of MCAs by the executives. 



Gatanga MCA Nahason Gachuhi welcomed the establishment of the ward fund saying the assemblies will be liberated from the control of the executive.

Gachuhi said the fund will help the MCAs to keep governors on the check, calling for the formation of County Assemblies Service Commission (CASC).

He said the was need for MCAs to be paid through the commission to save them from being controlled by the executive.

“Presently  the MCAs payment and allowances is at the mercy of the executive,” said Gachuhi.  

In Murang’a, Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata is celebrated
for being behind the crucial motion designed to liberate the assembly members
to allocate funds to particular development projects.

 The President asked
Kenyans to read and understand the document, as he warned the politicians from
hijacking the constitutional making process.

“This should be the end of political conmanship and usher in an era
where people vote leaders based on principles, polices and not on
individualism,” said the President.

Although the motion failed, the senator a former civic leader
said there was need to allocate funds to the MCAs to handle small projects.

Maragua constituency’s, Kimorori MCA Amos Murigi welcomed the
decision by senate saying the members will be allocating funds to some of the
development projects without passing through the governors.

“In the past the MCAs had been reduced to beggars as they must
wait allocation of funds by the executive. Those in bad books with the governors
suffered most,” said Murigi.
