EMBU:Kazi Mtaani benefits hundreds in the villages

 Kazi Mtaani in Embu is bearing fruit as it enters its second month after its country wide launch last month.

The 3, 000 youths in the program are being engaged in various community activities such as unblocking water and sewerage systems, cleaning among other activities.

Kangaru Assistant Commissioner office is one of the beneficiary of the program where the youths have been engaged in construction of ablution block.

The office which in halfway done is being constructed under partnership of Kangaru Development Association, local administration and well-wishers while the kazi mtaani youths provide labour.

Mercy Muthoni, 30, with three children who live with her parent after irreconcilable difference with her husband and in laws is another beneficiary of the program.

Muthoni moved from her husband and went to live with her parents who gave her a place to build a shelter and has being living in a shanty polythene paper house until kazi mtaani program rescued her.

Through Ann Muthoni, a member of Area Advisory Committee who heard her plight, the local administration organized how they would start constructing a decent timber house for her where the kazi mtaani youths were engaged for labour and the house is almost complete.

Abdulahi Galgalo, Embu County Commissioner, on an inspection tour of the programs activities appreciated the government for the program saying many youths have been engaged and hence insecurity has going down.

He said in Embu over 3, 000 youths from 11 informal settlement schemes from various urban centers in Embu are engaged in the program.

The commissioner said the success of the program is a call for inclusive of more youths urging leaders to avoid politicizing the program.

The county commissioner ruled out the possibility of misappropriation of the Kazi Mtaani funds since the funds go directly to the phones of the youths.

Separately, Galgalo warned parents involved in early marriages and settlement of sexual offence matters at home will face full force of the law.

The county commissioner who was in company of local administration and county security team also toured Kazi Mtaani project at regional police offices at Itabua where the youths are doing bush clearing.
