Murang’a County Government has made a stride in unveiling major projects in its  two hospitals geared at improving access to healthcare.

At Murang’a level five and Kandara sub county hospitals the undertaken development has increased capacity and introduced modern medical equipment and technology to meet rising demand for health services.

Opening the new wings,Governor Irungu Kang’ata said the facilities seek to attract patients seeking private healthcare services while providing dignified and quality care to people across different professions and backgrounds.

Kandara Subcounty Hospital has a new wing that features a Casualty Department, a second operating theater, a laboratory, a pharmacy, three consultation rooms, a Gynaecology Unit, a Surgical Ward and a Forensic and Dignity Centre.

The expanded infrastructure is expected to strengthen the hospital’s ability to handle emergencies, provide specialised medical services and serve residents of Kandara and neighbouring communities more efficiently.

The additional operating theater will enhance surgical capacity, while the expanded laboratory, pharmacy and consultation facilities are expected to improve access to essential medical services.

“The investment reflects the County Government’s commitment to bringing quality, accessible and efficient healthcare closer to the people,”added Dr Kangáta.

Earlier on, the governor had commissioned the new Inpatient and Outpatient Amenity Complex at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital.

The newly constructed facility is expected to ease congestion in the main hospital block by reducing queues, expanding ward bed capacity and increasing access to healthcare services.

The County Government intends to use the facility to attract patients seeking private healthcare services.

“The complex will also offer specialised services, generate additional revenue and support the improvement of services within the main hospital block,” added Dr Kangáta.

The two hospital expansions form part of the County Government’s broader investment in the health sector, which includes constructing new facilities, expanding and upgrading existing hospitals, building additional wards and providing modern medical equipment.

The investments are aimed at ensuring residents across Murang’a have access to quality, affordable and reliable healthcare services closer to home.
