After the push for the elevation of Thika town to a City, a new proposal has been flouted to consider the same to a county.
In a petition, the city will be carved out of the vast Kiambu County and be its own county following a proposal by the stakeholders submitted to the senate that will cover the constituencies of Thika, Juja, Ruiru, Gatundu North and Gatundu South sub-counties.
The stakeholders spokesperson Juma Hemedi said the idea was mooted in 2023, through a community driven initiative.
“The five sub-counties do not receive a fair share of resources and development projects from the vast Kiambu County Government,” said Juma who was accompanied by Thika Business Community chairman Alfred Wanyoike.
