Jubilee Party deputy leader Dr Fred Matiang’i has proposed strategic measures to save the schools from unrest with the appointment of a Principal Secretary to oversee the implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Other measures are ensuring the heads have resources to run the schools, and listening to the churches and stakeholders in the education sector.

Dr Matiang’i outlined that the education sector was facing its toughest crisis, blaming it on mismanagement of resources.

Speaking at Kinoru Methodist Church in Meru said the government must accept its failures in the management of the sector.

“It should embrace dialogue with stakeholders to find remedies, for the sake of the children’s education and future,” said the Jubilee Deputy Party Leader.

The former Cabinet Secretary for Education reminded Kenyans that during his tenure under the former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s he successfully guided the sector to great heights, contrary to what is happening.

“  President William Ruto’s administration should stop the wastage of public resources meant for the education sector, and ensure school managements have the funds to efficiently run them,” he said.

Peter Munya, the former Agriculture CS lauded Matiang’i over his dedication in the education  sector based on his performance when he was appointed by the former President Uhuru and steered it to success.
