Murang’a leads in the innovation of the digital systems to enhance revenue collection

The Murang’a County Government  has taken a lead in rolling out a digital system dubbed ‘MyMurang’a AA’  designed to assist residents acquire comprehensive services, through their mobile phones.

Governor Irungu Kang’ata launched the digital system saying it will assist in collection of revenue  to champion implementation of the development projects across the wards. 

The APP was developed by youthful county government employees, a move that will simplify application  for licenses and making payments online,  which had been a brother to the majority.

Speaking at Kimorori stadium in Kenol, the governor said the comprehensive digital platform will deliver government services to residents’ through their  mobile phones and enhance accountability.

“The MyMurang’a App consolidates services across all departments into one seamless platform, discouraging physical visits to county offices, and significantly reducing service delivery timelines,” said Kang’ata.

The county chief emphasized his commitment to digitization using local resources, saying the app was developed by youth employed by the county. 

He added that MyMurang’a App represents modern, efficient, and transparent government  services, leading to saving time, improving accountability, thus opening up new opportunities for growth.

He further explained that the locals will have cAccess to cabinet decisions, official circulars, and service charters, channels for public participation, grievance redress, and development proposals, visibility into budget allocation, expenditure, and project implementation.

Through the digital platform the local traders can apply and pay for business permits, liquor licences, and food hygiene certificates , land services,  apply for bursaries and education support programs, health services among others.

The launch of the app builds on Murang’a’s broader investments in automation and digitization across departments, including: ·

 Digitized health systems enabling telemedicine, digital patient records, and remote consultations

 Automation of revenue collection systems, reducing manual processes and improving efficiency

 GIS mapping and data systems for waste management, water services, and urban planning

 Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) for managing county staff, payroll, and performance

 Digital education platforms supporting ECDE and vocational training management

 Online procurement and supplier portals to enhance transparency in public finance

 Real-time dashboards for water supply, budgeting, and project tracking
