Slovakians seeks  for collaboration with Murang’a  county on telemedicine

Slovakians medical experts seek to partner  with Murang’a County Government to strengthen telemedicine technology  designed to reach more patients.

 The Slovakian delegation led by Mr. Adam Subrt and Mr. Martin Balae from Goldmann Systems held a meeting with the County’s Health CEC Dr Fredrick Mbugua, Chief Officer Eliud Maina and health experts  on strategies to advance telemedicine services.

 The telemedicine services  were introduced by Governor Irungu Kang’ata  in 2024 designed to take care of the patients seeking affordable and specialised treatment, without cost of travelling.

Mbugua said  the two countries are exploring collaboration in advancing Telemedicine Services targeting to improve health services.

“The discussions centered on leveraging digital solutions to enhance healthcare delivery, with a shared commitment to improving access to quality and timely medical services for residents,” said Mbugua.

Maina  said the county is open to such bilateral engagements aimed at boosting service delivery and embracing innovative healthcare solutions.

The Chief Officer informed the guests that in one year since the launch of the programme,  more than 70,556 patients have attended in 36 centres.

“  This year between January and April 10, 26,210  have been treated through the initiative prove its gaining popularity in Murang’a owing to its advantages,” said Maina.

 The Slovakians visited Muriranja Telemedicine Hub and Kiriaini dispensary where 4,425 patients were treated last year through telemedicine technology.

Adam said all the tests and readings are automatically uploaded to a mobile application and centralized servers, enabling instant access and real-time notifications for clinicians. 

“The digital advancement also paves way for patient home monitoring, enhancing efficiency, continuity of care and early intervention in disease management,” he said.

In the telemedicine service, Kiria ini, Makuyu, Saba Saba, Kagundu ini and Nyakianga  are ranked to have performed better, thus attended the highest number of patients.

Others present in the meeting were head of health products and technologies Unit Dr. Godfrey Gatacha, and Nutrition Project Officer Ms. Purity Gitonga
