Kemsa Chairman Irungu Nyakera is celebrated for having steered the tea sector to reforms that have helped the farmers access to freedom.

On Sunday, Nyakera worshipped at Kimandi church in Kariara ward in Gatanga, where the tea farmers lauded his crusade that bore fruits through the implementation of the tea reforms.

 He added that the annual  tea bonus has doubled more than what was paid by the KTDA in 2021;

“The reforms bore fruits and farmers are happy today owing to the reforms,  as they get a mini bonus calculated at Sh12 per kilogramme of green leaf delivered up from Sh3 that was paid,” said Nyakera.

 More importantly, he said, he was happy that the monthly payment per kilogramme of green leaf is at  Sh25 up from the previous of Sh16 which was paid in 2021.

Nyekara, who chairs Farmers Party, said in the forthcoming tea factory election, the mode to be used is one man, one vote, which he initiated to reform the sector ending the tricks used by the cartels  to remain in power.

“Cartels also went home, giving farmers their much needed peace and freedom in the tea and coffee sector. Let’s take care of our farmers ,they are the backbone of our economy”Mr. Nyakera.

 He challenged the farmers to increase production of the green leaf.
